For There She Was

Everyone sees life differently. This is how the world looks to me.

Bees

According to my brother, bumblebee’s will headbutt you gently in order to find out whether or not you are a flower. Which in my mind is the most freakingly cute thing I have ever heard.

heartworm

dictionaryofobscuresorrows:

n. a relationship or friendship that you can’t get out of your head, which you thought had faded long ago but is still somehow alive and unfinished, like an abandoned campsite whose smoldering embers still have the power to start a forest fire.

You can tell spring is becoming overdue when I massacre a pair of my brother’s ill-fitting old jeans, transforming them into cut off shorts that only stay up with a belt cinched tight and bunchy around my waist.

And this morning I woke up with the strange sensation that I had grown up overnight.

Perhaps this is how it always happens.

The banishment from Neverland is complete.

I am pretty sure I am in love with Ethan Hawka circa 1994.

Insanity.

Top 5 Movies

Just today I updated my top 5 movies. Normally there are a few transitory ones in, like, the top 10, and the top 5 stay basically the same. Well, I made room for a new one.

Before Sunrise.

Why have I never ever seen this movie before? Today was the first time. I feel like they stole it from me, some of my stories from travelling, and made it into a movie in the early 90’s. It resonated so extremely strongly through out my very being. I am this movie. This movie is me.

Lost in Translation

Again, another movie that put into beautiful cinematic pictures a feeling that I cannot put into words. I have tried. Lots of people don’t understand. But this movie does.

Ferris Beuller’s Day Off

What, you don’t like this movie? Oh come on. It has a sense of humour. It doesn’t take itself seriously in the slightest. It is basically thumbing it’s nose at straight-laced adults. It is middle-class white kid rebellion encapsulated.

The Darjeeling Limited

The thing I like most about this movie is the portrayal of the relationship between the 3 brothers. That whole sibling thing. I have never seen a movie that does it so tongue-in-cheek… the squabbling, the rivalries, the whole “we can criticize one another, but if someone else does…trouble”

The Princess Bride

Need I say more? This movie has it all. If I had to watch only one movie again for the rest of my life this might be it. In fact, when I was 13 my family moved to Australia and we owned only one video for an entire year. And it was The Princess Bride. And so the fact that I am STILL not sick of it has to say something. About the movie. And me, I guess. And my family too. Ha.

Not quite sure what I did to deserve these friendships that I have. Seriously, I am in deep, deep friend-love with you all- Kristyn, Robyn, Sab, Matt, and Kirsten. I love how Valentine’s Day can be a day to remind us how much we mean to one another. Y’all are the best people. True Enkidu’s reincarnated. <3
